All of our saxophone key felt is die cut from the finest
grade of felt available, woven from 100% wool. Unlike felt that is woven using a
blend of wool and synthetics (such as rayon), felt made from 100% wool is more
dense.
Density is an important factor in a saxophone felt because of the
necessity for maintaining proper key adjustment. Less dense grades of felt
are spongy and easily compress after a short time, which means keys can go out
of adjustment soon after leaving the shop.
Technicians will also find that
unlike synthetic blends that shred and tear, 100% wool felt is easier to cut and
trim.
